Seminar - The Multilingual Enterprise: Cardiff 28.4.07

I've been invited by Draig Technology to a seminar they're holding to promote their new bi/multilingual software. Ok, maybe not everyone likes Microsoft, but it's still the most popular software provider at the moment, and I think Draig should be congratulated for investing in producing bilingual software. I hope that many companies and public agencies in Wales take advantage of the opportunity to contact/communicate with their customers in their language of choice.

Smoking Ban: 11 days to ga (and counting)

I can't wait for the ban. I've had enough of coming home from the pub stinking of smoke. For some reason I've become less and less tolerant of it, and am more and more aware of the smell and smoke. I've estimated that I'll be visiting the pub (not necessarily the same one) four time before the ban comes into force. For those of you reading this post via a newsreader, I've got a counter on the top of the right column counting down the days.

Anyone going to join me for a pint to celebrate on the 2nd of April?

ialgi hadi (a Basque Scymraeg)

You may already be aware of the Scymraeg group on Flickr which is a collection of badly translated signs/posters in Welsh. Sadly, there are already 256 examples on it already and the numbers are growing.

There's a similar group on Flickr for Basque examples called ialgi hadi.

Here's a funny example on an anti-drugs poster by the government:

The Spanish version says 'Great activity without drugs'
and the Basque version says 'No rest without drugs'
